Bitcoin (BTC) is the first and largest cryptocurrency, created by Satoshi Nakamoto. It uses SHA-256 proof of work, has a fixed cap of 21 million coins, and reduces its subsidy through periodic halvings.
Bitcoin mining is dominated by ASICs, so it is not a GPU coin like Pearl.
