Block Height
How many blocks came before a given block.
Block height is a block's position in the chain. The genesis block is height zero and each block after it is one higher, so height is also the simplest way to refer to a specific block.
It is a position rather than a stored value: the height is derived from where the block sits. Confirmations are counted the same way, as the gap between a transaction's block and the current tip.
