Eclipse Attack

Isolating a node so it only sees an attacker's network view.

An eclipse attack surrounds a victim's node with attacker-controlled peers so everything it knows about the network comes from the attacker: a false chain tip, censored transactions, a distorted view.

Node software defends with diverse peer selection. For miners the related lesson is topology: a pool whose nodes peer widely and regionally is harder to feed a stale view of the chain.
