An Ethereum Improvement Proposal; EIPs define ERC token standards.
An EIP (Ethereum Improvement Proposal) is Ethereum's equivalent of a BIP: the process that defines protocol changes and application standards. The ERC token standards (like ERC-20) began as EIPs.
For miners the historically notable one is EIP-1559, which restructured Ethereum's fees and burned part of them, reshaping miner income on every EVM chain that adopted it.
