Encryption
Scrambling data so only the intended party can read it.
Encryption converts readable data into a form only someone with the right key can unscramble. It protects information in transit and at rest.
When you connect to the pool over TLS, your mining traffic is encrypted. Note that a public blockchain itself is not encrypted: it is transparent, and secured instead by signatures and hashing.
