Latency
The round-trip delay between your rig and the pool.
Latency is the time it takes data to travel between your miner and the pool and back. Lower latency means new jobs reach you sooner and your shares get back faster.
High latency raises your stale-share rate, which pulls your effective hashrate down. Choosing the closest server region is the main way to keep latency low.
