Nonce
A value a miner varies while searching for a solution.
A nonce is a number a miner changes over and over while searching for a result that meets the target. In classic mining, finding the right nonce is the whole race.
A related value, the extra nonce, is assigned per miner by the pool so that no two miners ever work on identical data.
