Payback Period
How long hardware takes to earn back its price.
The payback period is the hardware price divided by what it earns after electricity. It is the standard way to compare two cards that differ in both cost and output.
It is a snapshot, not a promise: difficulty rises, subsidies fall and prices move, so a payback figure quoted today assumes conditions that will not hold. Use your own purchase price, not a list price.
