Coins created for insiders before public mining starts.
A premine is a portion of a coin's supply created for founders or investors before public mining begins. Disclosed and reasonable, it funds development; hidden or huge, it is a red flag that insiders hold the exit.
Checking a coin's launch fairness (premine size, instamine history) is part of mining due diligence: your rewards dilute against whatever was minted before you arrived.
