Ransomware encrypts a victim's files and demands payment, usually in crypto, for the key. It is the crime most often cited against cryptocurrency in public debate.
It has nothing to do with mining except reputation: mining is open competition for block rewards, and pools like this one publish every payout publicly and verifiably on-chain.
