Web3 is a broad term for an internet built on blockchains, where users own their assets and identity rather than relying on centralized platforms. It covers tokens, DeFi, NFTs and decentralized apps.
Mining sits underneath much of this: proof-of-work coins provide the base-layer security that some Web3 systems build on.
